Young man, my advise to you is still look for a proper job and upgrade yourself. There are many learning curves in life exposure for you. I think that's part of the reason of our Gahmen strategy to impose a minimum age limit. Otherwise the whole streets are full of young people who never work before become Taxi drivers.

I remember many years ago , the criteria was tougher. Age limit must be above 35 and must prove that you are unemployed for a certain period before you can apply. Then they relax the rules to create more taxi drivers as the demand is there for the infrastructures.

Taxi driving is not a career or a job. You have to fight your way. You cannot take leave or sick leave or a proper holiday becos you still have to Pay Rental Every Day.

Do you know there is plenty of cabbies out there who has brought up their children up to the University by driving a cab ?

That is their generation ....

Our generation , our expenditure too much , so what is my solution ?

I buy Insurances for my 2 kids .... die die i pay one , just one good night from Friday i can pay off their mthly premium .

I oso bought a set when i was 32 , til 55 years old i take back $55,000 , now i 41 , 14 years to go .... very fast one .

So tentatively bro , i settle partly their educations , plus my CPF for their education i never used yet .

Discipline about money issues .

Cannot have China girlfriend , cannot gamble , buy 4D can ....

Everyday u put $50 inside your bank account , u dun touch , see if u can see money or not by mth end ....

Thanks Master Pool and Teo for the motivation. But I'm like 10 yrs Pool senior, really lao uncle. But I still have heart, strength and energy, most of all, no turning back! So die die will drive and make a decent living. If you all don't hiam me old, I would like to join you in your kopi session once I start driving.

Oh yes , must have heart , heart is interest in driving , without having the interest and hobby to drive , how to earn ?

Oh yes , must have strength , mental and physical strength . Without a good stable mental strength , very difficult to drive , plan and proceed . Strength also in motivatios , hunger and desire .

Oh yes , energy , energy as in physical stamina on the roads , requires a certain level of alertness and concentrations . And safety is important , and needs lots of energy to stay safe on the road , on the maximum level .

I totally agree, Master Pool! That's y I told myself, in term of age, I may be older than most new drivers, but I am very determined to make a living out of this trade. Won't give up easily (cannot afford to do so either), breadwinner, the husband and father's job to provide for the family. Confirmed collecting crown next wed, then will whack the roads. Will try out the different time schedules and see if I'm able to earn enough $$$ for family.

Try as fast as possible to find a relief ..... comfort easy to find relief .

OMO and half shift , same salary one la .

OMO no off .... 365 days , if kena holiday like National Day , May Day , Deepavali , New Year or X'mas , die cock standing for OMO . Hard to break even overheads .

Remember this , no people working means difficult !

To get a relief , u understudy first , when u are good on the road , u then decide if OMO lifestyle suits you .

If u think being a new OMO can fetch u daily basis $120 or more nett salary , for a 14 hours work average , and stay healthy , and no fatigue , u'll be disappointed , cos i haven't seen one at the moment and did it successfully !

For many who hv join this line of job ... it is more on survival. Like Poolman mentioned Money descipline is very impt. What we are earning now are from toiling our mind & body physically. Whatever amount we can earn today may not be the same the next day, be it good or bad.

Workers in today world are left behind by Globalization.

So cherish the money we earn and standby. Future is grim in this small island.
