With
#project360, Mammut, the Swiss mountain sports specialist, is
opening vistas to the mountains of this world virtually and
visually - from the perspective of the mountaineer and directly
from the mountain faces. A specially developed backpack with six
cameras for a complete all-round view provided the pictures for
this project. Since the beginning of 2014, professional
mountaineers and Mammut employees have carried these camera
backpacks to more than 30 mountains all over the world. Of these,
five tours will be online from 29
July 2015: Eiger North Face (CH), Matterhorn Hörnli Ridge
(CH), El Capitan (USA), Mount Elbrus (RUS) and the frozen waterfall
Rübezahl (CH). The 360° images and films that were recorded can be
viewed on http://www.mammut.ch/project360 and
as mobile app for Android and iOS.
Thanks
to these recordings, anyone can experience these legendary routes
online, step by step; they tangibly convey the fascination of the
famous, magnificent mountains. With just a few clicks, the
user can move across the faces, look right down into the depths or
up at the heights and follow the progression of the route from
right up close. The viewer himself can determine the direction of
viewing. All 360° views can be controlled on smartphones and
tablets merely by moving the gadgets.
