i think it is important to know the language that you need to
survive. (in singapore its english)
if your race means something to you its important you know the
language that defines your race.
compare the two.
a chinese who cant speak chinese but speak english
fluently. no big deal right? there are plenty
around.
an angmoh who cant speak english but speak chinese
fluently. (or any other languages for that matter) to
date i have never seen one.
why?
of course it has something to do with the the
angmohs. they have always been trying to influence the
world or is still influencing the world. thats why we have
terms like 西风日下.
it is obvious at least in local context how the angmoh influence
have eroded chinese values and cultures.
