TAIPEI/PRNewswire/
-- Yamanashi Prefecture, the home of the Japanese jewellery
industry, was known for its glittering, translucent and
high-quality "Kofu Crystals" during earlier periods. In recent
years, Yamanashi has become world-renowned for gemstone cutting and
metalworking techniques, and it has long been the birthplace of
many exported Japanese jewelleries.
Having
visited Taiwan Jewellery & Gem Fair for two years, the
Yamanashi Crystal Art Sculpture Cooperative rates the Fair very
highly. As a result the Association has decided to invite its
skillful sculptor members to exhibit at the 2015 Taiwan Jewellery
& Gem Fair. Visitors to the 2015 Fair will see a variety of
sophisticated crystal and gemstone sculptures with intricate
patterns carved by experienced lapidaries from Yamanashi.
Organised by UBM Asia Ltd., Taiwan Branch
and the Taiwan Jewelry Industry Association, the
3rd edition of Taiwan Jewellery & Gem Fair will
be held on 20-23
November 2015 at the Taipei World Trade Center. In
addition to the showcase of exquisite crystal works
from Japan,
local jewellers in Taiwan will
also have their dazzling collections exhibited at the Fair.
Designer Mr. Shih Chin
Tiao, who was featured on the 2015 Chinese
New Year show program, "Treasure
Hunt" broadcast on China National TV, will exhibit his own
jewellery brand "Atlen" at the 2015 Taiwan Jewellery & Gem
Fair. Mr. Shih was once an apprentice from the countryside, after
years of dedicated hard work, he has grown into a successful
jewellery designer with keen sets of goldsmithing techniques. Every
jewellery piece that's being presented at the Fair is a product of
countless meticulous design revisions.
Lately, the jewellery auction market is paying close attention to
designer Mr. Tsai An
Ho who has been concentrating on jewellery design using
a mixture of different materials, mainly titanium and k-gold. It is
worth noting that not many designers have the skills to work with
titanium. It took Tsai numerous trials and errors to be able to
present his design works with gleam of neon lights and perfect line
curves. Tsai believes that jewellery should not only be decorative
but should also be a work of art which is to be added to people's
collection. In addition to design, Mr. Tsai is also actively
training goldsmith apprentices to pass on his exceptional
craftsmanship to the next generation.
Continuing the jewellery design activities and creative
goldsmithing seminars of 2014, this year UBM Asia will co-organize
the "2015 Goldsmith Contest". With the instructions from the
Department of Labour, Taipei City Government, the Taipei Jeweler's
Association will choose top five goldsmiths in the pre-contest
whose works will be displayed at the 2015 Taiwan Jewellery &
Gem Fair where the first place will be decided. Meanwhile, the
Taiwan Creative Jewellery Designer Association will be hosting a
jewellery design contest with the topic of "BRIDGE". This contest
is focusing on creativity, vision and techniques and is welcoming
contestants from industry professionals and/or students. The
winning pieces will be showcased at the Fair as well the awarding
ceremony.
Since
its first edition, not only has the Taiwan Jewellery & Gem Fair
provided an international trading platform for both local and
foreign jewellers but it has also rejuvenated the jewellery
industry in Taiwan.
This year, with more support from associations, domestic and
overseas, local jewellery industry should be able to attract more
young talents with creative minds to be a part of the business
which would in turn strengthen jewellery manufacturing and design
in Taiwan.
