I don't think he would have contributed greatly to singapore.
Yes the country did recover from the Lehmann brothers crisis but
that's because the world economy picked up too since we are so
export oriented.
The SPURS thing? That one was exploited by SMEs, contrary to
what the papers report. It was a golden chance to milk taxpayers'
$$ from the govt.
He is the only PM in any democracy the world over, to "debate"
issues in parliament only after it has been passed. Think
ministerial salaries, GST, casinos etc.
