All about the next television generation OLED-Tv Television (organic light
emitting diode)
Why will OLED compete against LCD and Plasma in the next few
years?
The first OLED Televison in the world was the Sony OLED-Tv from

Mitsubishi 155 Zoll OLED Television
Mitsubishi Electric show a 155-inch sized OLED
Television display, which consists of small sized OLED parts
(estimated size is a 10×10cm square unit) at the Ceatec 2009. The
large scale OLED display has been developed for digital signage and
monitors placed at public spaces.
Thanks to the modular system the large screens can be
curved in large installations, to follow the curvature of a
building, wall or wherever else it’s installed. Because OLED
technology used in the creation of this system, brightness is said
to be three times greater than in regular LCD TVs. Organic
compounds in the pixels degrade over time, however, with the set’s
life rated at 20,000 hours of continuous use.
The pixel pitch is about 3mm. But when watched from a distance
of more than 2m, the display looked fine enough for me. The pixel
pitch of large-size LED displays is normally 4 to 6mm. There are
some LED displays with a pixel pitch of 3mm, but they use many LEDs
and are too expensive to become popular, Mitsubishi Electric
said.
LG-Display
OLED-TV
LG Display show the largest OLED Television Display a 15 inch
panel at the Ifa-2009 in Berlin
These new monitors will see a full launch in December 2009 in
Korea. Price has not yet been announced, but I think we can expect
it to be pretty excessive. Sony’s 11″ OLED XEL-1 costs a hefty
$2500.
There are some rumors that Sony want to introduce a new OLED
Television Serie the KDL-ZX.
In some Sony documents they are showing a new “KDL-ZX Series OLED”
on the 2010 / 2011 roadmap.
Maybe Sony want to introduce the new serie at the CES-2010 in Las
Vegas?

We are waiting for the XEL-2, Sony showed 2009 a 21 inch
OLED-Panel with 1366×768 pixel resolution and is only 1 cm thick.
The contrast ratio is 1.000.000:1 like the XEL-1
There is no information for the price or when this device comes to
the market.
The Sony XEL-1 is the world first OLED (Organic Light Emitting
Diode) television, featuring a 3mm thin panel and breathtaking
image contrast, brightness and color.
Sony’s OLED (Organic Light Emitting Diode) TV, the XEL-1, is truly
the next big thing in television technology. It offers unparalleled
picture quality with amazing contrast, outstanding brightness,
exceptional color reproduction, and a rapid response time. It
delivers astounding performance in all the key picture quality
categories. OLED technology can completely turn off pixels when
reproducing black, resulting in more outstanding dark scene detail
and a contrast ratio of 1,000,000:1. OLED also creates unmatched
color expression and detail and enables rapid response times for
smooth and natural reproduction of fast moving images like those
found in sports and action movies. The XEL-1 features the latest
connectivity options including two HDMI™ inputs, a digital tuner,
and a Memory Stick® media slot for viewing high-resolution
photos.
