I really can’t recall that chapati stall at empress place clive…usually I ate at the food stalls at the opposite side of the singapore river bank…I think…it was because there were not many malay or indian food stalls there and occasionally I would stop by for a cold drink or coffee when I passed there on my way to or from the supreme court or colombo court building in the late 70s or took a bus from empress place bus stop to go home from there. I used to eat the roti pratas and malay food just behind the Malayan Bank Building.

In the late 70s I was working for a legal firm at CPF Building. Then after army in the early 80s.I worked for a stock broking firm at Hong Leong Building and later at Ocean Building. Singapore River areas were like the backyard playing ground for me to relax and eat…hehe

SES was on the 7th floor on side access. Lim and Tan on 34th, Kim Eng on 15th and the one that went bankdrupt Lyall and Evatt on 17th floor. I dun play much but invested to get better return money from tin and rubber stock than bank interest.

Yeap,,,you got that LIM correct....do you still remembered the SIA shares....it worth much more in the blackmarket (as we termed it).every remisiers and clients were looking for people who had that SIA shares...especially staffs of SIA...

Not very sure about SIA but 80s was wild markets and there was a lot of off market trading as the stock are still physical certificates with transfer forms.

This was before the pan electric crisis....that SIA share were at 8 sing dollars per share in the blackmarket..when it first came out in the market.........

Most Singaporeans in their teens or youth would celebrate their birthdays or even holiday seasons by having a party at their own homes. They would invite their friends and their friends would invite their friends/girlfriends/boyfriends to the party too. And we would dance the fast dance until 10pm or 11pm then the slow dance would start until early next morning. Everyone would look forward to attend these kind of parties, where boys meet girls and girls meet boys…hehe.

Not to forget that kids during that time play games like jump over the "long, jump, pass?" rope, blowing an kind of special plastic bubble by apply the gum in the straw, folding an paper and release the paper to make an thunder noise etc. Now all kids are united in mobile games or Playstation/Xbox.

may be they are more adventurous, often like to go outdoors and we often worried that they might get lost in the forest or fall from the trees.
