conflicts between the people as the top want to justify the cost
effecient of sustaining the hospital or med centre. When
factoring the treating of a simple illness with all the
machines and big surgeons waiting; they have to recover the cost.
This is a material world even saving lives.
GPs and Specialist Doctors are now more like
businessmen/businesswomen. Hospitals and Medical Centres are
commercial and business entities. Eversince government run
hospitals were privatised and became subsidiaries of health groups
like SingHealth and National Health Group, man hours and cost
efficiency are seen as productivity when Operating Theatres are not
really clean which may risk the patients being infected and the
surgeons always want their patients to be push into the OT room for
surgeries as soon as the case before them is completed. 5 to 15
minutes to clean the OT room is insufficient to really disinfect
the OT rooms and the medical equipments ...I always argued with my
supervisor about OT being compromised to the protocol of medical
SOP and they always brushed that aside..saying there were many
surgeries and the surgeons will not be happy if their schedule
surgery was going to be delayed. There was this case that
happened...the OT room was not cleaned and disinfected yet. We had
just completed one case and then there was this Anesthetist, he
immediately push his patient into the OT room and transfered his
patient on to the Operating Table when the OT room and medical
equipments even before it was cleaned and disinfected. We informed
him and he just ignored it. We cleaned the OT room and medical
equipments abit here and there while the patient was already on the
OT table which was against SOP protocol.
