SINGAPORE: Transport Minister Lui Tuck Yew has said fare increases are needed to improve service to commuters while keeping public transport operations commercially viable.

In a Facebook post, Mr Lui said fare increases are not to boost the short-term profits of Public Transport Operators (PTOs) or improve the salaries of bus drivers.

He must have thought over to take a ride again or not. Probably he thinksit is better to stay away from it in case breakdown when he is in the train and this will make it difficult for him to increase fares.

I think you don't understand how this should work and let me explain this step by step 1) Train breakdown and kenna fine big big 2) This Q profit for the company fall due to the fine. 3) Elites come out and say that public transport cannot loss money if not everyone will suffer, thus the fare must increase 4) Next Q come, there is no fine thus the profit increase due to the fare increase 5) Elites come out and sing praise to the management for doing such a "good job" in bring up the profit, thus increase the management "peanuts" salary. 6) Return to step 1 in next Q.
