I am a new immigrant who wishes to integrate here. Although
English is not my first lanauge that I am not quite sure of your
slagons, I would like to share my opinion here:
I was born into different culture from Singapore's, and I could
feel, compare and appreciate your high civilisation in terms
of government efficiency, gracious social order and Singaporean's
spirit of perservance.
I think the native citizens should go out to see how other
countries are like, and how the people are living, then you will
cherish what you have.
Population issue is becoming hot, because it is the world trend,
culture shock is unavoidable for any globalised countries, even
Japan, as a genuine ethnic nation is considering opening up for
immigration.
Singapore has its own culture, so far as I know from your
history book and relevant biographies, which should make us
proud, regardless of short or long. For example, bilingual language
education is a reputable mark, and benefit all our generations.
Love can sometimes be blind.
Generally, it looks so fine on the surface. I am sure you
are not aware about the report by UN on Singapore. History
book? Oh O, history can be manipulated, you know!
It is good for you to mix around with people from all levels in
Singapore to know the reality of life here. Talk and reading
from text are not sufficient.
If you do not understand what is "rojak" in my post I suppose
you are out of touch with the reality and way of life in Singapore.
