SINGAPORE: The Kate Spade bag that became a
household name during last year's General Election has a new
owner.
The bag belonging to Member of Parliament Tin Pei Ling, whose photo
of her posing with the box made the rounds on the internet shortly
after she was introduced as a candidate, was auctioned off on
Monday for a good cause.
Bids started at S$500. And, after three bids, the bag fetched a
final price of S$1,600.
The bidder, who didn't want to be identified, is a 29-year-old man
working in the marine trading industry who bought the bag for his
mother.
He reasoned his bid to wanting to show his support for AWARE's
programmes and the new generation of the young PAP.
Ms Tin Pei Ling, MP for Marine Parade GRC, wanted to help raise
money for women's rights group, the Association of Women for Action
and Research (AWARE).
The money raised from its Supersonic Ball will be used to fund its
support services.
