I WISH to highlight two problems at Pulau Ubin based on my visit
last month.
First, on the bumboats which are the sole means of transport
between the mainland and Ubin, I was surprised that donning
lifejackets was not mandatory for passengers and the captain.
Second, stray dogs are common in Pulau Ubin. One activity at a
camp I was taking part in required us to go barefoot. A stray
chomped at a shoe of one participant.
The authorities should act.
