Another person in Singapore is suspected to have choked to death
on his own saliva.
This may be the second such case in a week where people choke to
death on their own saliva.
The most recent deceased is a 30-year-old Malaysian working in
Singapore as a computer technician.
According to his grieving girlfriend, the deceased had hurt his
back on Sunday, 8 January, and had difficulty moving about, so she
had offered to let him stay over at her home in Yishun.
The man was sleeping soundly when he appeared to choke on his
own saliva.
He was heard coughing once and went quiet after.
At about 5am in the morning, the woman found that she could not
wake her boyfriend, and panicking, asked her housemate for
help.
The housemate also tried to wake the man, but later on found
that he no longer had a pulse.
The man was sent to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital but could not be
resuscitated.
Earlier on 3 January, a 29-year-old housewife was suspected to
have died by choking on her own saliva during an afternoon nap.
Her husband had returned home in the evening to find her still
sleeping.
But a closer look revealed that the woman's body had gone cold
and she had been dead for at least seven to eight hours.
