Question On Valet Parking

You know some places like hotels, restaurants or clubs have valet services right,... am just wondering... must pay or not? Very Happy

usually got sign that says how much… or if you dining then just show receipt or something….

meritus mandarin at orchard road is abt $15 but count it as $20 (surface parking together with all the ferraris and all that - if you valet park here and u give him 2 $10 notes, he will respond with "er.. so i keep the change?" so just take it as $20) but then they valet some of the not so important cars into the car park that one dunno what price onli tried the surface parking one..

grand copthorne waterfront hotel is $8 but as usual they will keep the change (sometimes without u even saying it) and its surface parking in front of hotel door dont know whether got valet into the carpark but they just left mine in front of the hotel door..

goodwood park is so lousy. ask the guy got surface valet parking he say he will valet my car into the basement carpark.. WTH. i told him my car can't clear the sharp "peak" of the slope down into the carpark he still sae he can onli valet into the basement. i then spotted a surface carpark (erp type) near the main entrance of the hotel. ownself parked there. the goodwood park hotel valet is a dumb idiot.

Fullerton hotel got different rates for weekdays and weekends.. can't remember which one but when i went there for the chocolate buffet its was onli $8 or $18 (can't rmb) but as usual they keep the change. that day's rate was per entry, the other rate is that entry rate for first hour then i think $5 per hour after that..

that's all that i've tried so far.. can't help u if u're going anywhere other than the above

oh and i also saw a sign at NUH car park B which said valet parking is $4 (inclusive of carpark charges) – i didn’t bother with this one. just park myself.

Anyway I don’t understand… Why let others park your car when you can park yourself? How do you know the valet wont touch your things? dirty your seat etc?

its like you want to go to somewhere in the most convenient way: go drive right up to the door step, then get out and walk straight into the place. Valet parking is for ppl who dun wanna waste time finding a parking space, dun wanna waste the effort to look at their rear view mirrors when parking, dun wanna sqeeze in bewteen cars, dun wanna waste the time walking from the car park through some stairs lifts and corridors and at the same time remember where they parked their car. if they worry that the valet parker is dishonest or will dirty anything.... then of course valet parking is not for them Mr. Green

hmm regarding the WHY part..

as far as i remember.. i onli valet park at the hotels.. (except goodwood park for obvious reasons)

and even when i valet park there, i park it by myself and then give them the keys after that.. so u're just paying for the lot..

except for the meritus mandarin one they got move my car back to fit more cars after i already park it..

and if its a valet parking anywhere other than a hotel i won't let them anywhere near.

and so, NO, i don't valet park at suntec, NUH, holland village, etc.
