I AM concerned about the safety and security of the Housing
Board's water tanks after reading the report on the discovery of a
maid's body in a rooftop tank in Woodlands on Monday.
Are our water tanks safe from intruders? In another case in
2002, a group of boys threw washing powder into a similar water
tank. Looks like our water tank areas have easy access.
Do the town councils and private property management committees
have a plan in place to control access to water tank areas?
Such reports would give ideas to terrorists to harm residents.
Since we are living in a time of terrorism and Singapore is a
potential target for terrorist attacks, are our water tanks really
safe from sabotage that could cause a great number of deaths?
What steps are being taken - or have been taken - to prevent
such fatal intrusions?
