ON SUNDAY night, a family member of mine was almost molested as
she was walking along Dunearn Road, near the junction with Linden
Drive (near Nanyang Girls' High School).
A man cycled towards her rapidly and stuck out a hand, in an
attempt to grope her. Fortunately, she was carrying a laptop
computer close to her chest. The assailant cycled away quickly so
she couldn't catch him.
Many foreign workers mill around the Linden Drive and Dunearn
Road area, because the Circle Line and a number of houses are being
constructed there. A girls' school - Nanyang Girls' - and a girls'
hostel are also located there, and many teenage girls often walk
around that area.
The police should step up their patrols in the area to deter any
potential molesters.
The majority of foreign construction workers are decent men who
are here to make a living. But there are also those who pay scant
attention to our laws and harm citizens in the process.
