Do you believe in retribution?

I was surprised that my spouse brought up this topic last night.

My spouse said "Japan got the retribution from what their past generation did during ww2. and sadly today generation has to suffer due to that."

I replied : Shouldnt their grandparent generation get the retribution instead of today generation? It is really unfair."

My s pouse replied "Nowadays when one do evil things, retribution might not fall on them doesnt mean that he will be free from his evil mind and deeds. His children or grandchildren or the next generation will pay for the price of his evil deeds."

I replied: We should be humble, treat pple kindly, fairly, dont break pple's rice bowl, have a golden heart. To save yourself and your children and our future generation.

If you believe in retribution then why sometimes good people die of cancer? why sometimes innocent children get raped n murdered? Just today I read about a court case in Australia where they trial a Aust guy for the murder of his 2 year old daughter by tossing her off a 50 foot bridge because he was frustrated wif his divorce. Innocent 2 year old gal killed by her father, what has she done to deserve tis?

Have you heard of 三世因 ? Retribution or cause and effect can stretch for 3 life times or even more life times. The effect needs condition(缘or rather恶缘) to arise. Cause and effect is a complicated process. Only the enlightened ones can discern it.

There are individual karma and collective karma（共业）. For instance, sometimes you read in the newspaper that the passengers in a car met an accident and passed away together. This is an example of collective karma. If you don't have the collective karma as them, for some reason you will not be in that car even though you are supposed to. May be someone more expert from wisdom bliss can explain better what is collective karma.

A group of people committed murder together is a simple example of collective karma.

Every actions got its retribution.

Be good to others and will get good rewards.

Retribution doesnt mean you wont get it, means you will never, it will befall on ones children or grandchildren and so on.

Actually your karma has nothing to do with your next generation. However, due to a person's bad karma, it will "attract" children who have bad karma or of the same bad karma to be born in that person's family. It is also called collective karma. That explains why some families have diseases that pass down from generation to generation and explains why some are unfortunately born in the families with medical history and some are not.

One of the Ven. (monk) said as a Buddhist we shall not talk about karma or retribution when people are already in a very sorry state. He told us we Buddhists cannot talk about karma or retribution in regard to Japan natural disaster, just pray for them. Buddhism is always very compassionate.

Take for my typical local manager for instances, he make hell to us, make us stress, little increnment, little bonuses, dont let pple claim, call pple names eg) Stupid, idiot. Cursing pple, shouldnt he be able to get his retribution one day?

It is a matter of time he will have his retribution.不是不报，只是时辰未到. It means it is not that he will not have his retribution, it is the timing is not right yet. Unless he repents before his time comes. I've seen people like him.

There is an immediate retribution if anyone ever laugh or ridicule a person who is always ill. The person who laugh will have his retribution within a short period of time.

There was this colleague who laughed and commented at another colleague who had long term sickness and was always hospitalised. Luckily I learnt from the Dharma not to laugh at anybody with sickness. I just listened and did not make any comment. Not long after, this colleague who laughed was hospitalised for a month and the doctor did not know what was wrong with him. After his discharge, he was unable to tell us exactly what made him hospitalised because doctor also unable to tell. This is not an isolated case. Anybody dare to challenge karma on this ?

I can so that my manager is the worst manager in Spore. Can vote for him the worst and ill manner manager in Spore.

There is one of my colleague that was mc for 2 day due to high fever. Not only my manager ask him to rest well, he told him off :" 2 days only? Should take more and shake leg at home."

Sigh!
