A PAIR of father and son were jailed on Tuesday for assaulting a
nurse director who had parked his ambulance in front of the
latter's car in an open carpark.
Ching Thiam Foo, 49, a driver, was given six months' jail for
punching the face and kicking the groin of Mr Sivachandran
Murugasu, 28, at Block 212 Bukit Batok Street 21 on Feb 20,
2010.
His son, sales executive Jesmond Ching Kah Wei, 25, was jailed
four months for punching Mr Sivachandran's face. Both pleaded
guilty in February.
The court heard that the victim had parked the private ambulance
in front of Jesmond's car to send a patient to the clinic for
dialysis. When Jesmond wanted to drive out and found his car
blocked, he sounded the horn repeatedly.
His father came down and went to the clinic to look for the
driver, but was told that the vehicle did not belong to the
clinic.
When Mr Sivachandran returned to the ambulance, a dispute broke
out between Thiam Foo and the victim, who was punched during a
scuffle. The pair could have been jailed for up to two years and/or
fined up to $5,000 for voluntarily causing hurt.
