If you have always thought Singapore was one of the cleanest
countries in the world, it is time to rethink that. According to
this video, we are not the cleanest in the world. In fact,
Singapore is not even on the top 10 list.
The video, chanced upon by STOMPer Xuan Xuan, is a
compilation of the top ten cleanest countries in the world
according to the Environmental Performance Index (EPI).
EPI is an indicator of a country's environmental performance based
on the policies employed by that country.
The top scorers for year 2010 were Iceland , Switzerland and Costa
Rica with EPI scores of 93.5, 89.1 and 86.4 respectively.
Singapore qualified at 28th place with a score of 69.6.
Perhaps it is time to think about the areas in which Singapore
could improve in terms of environmental cleanliness, Xuan Xuan
says.
The sender says:
"I came across a video online that shows the world's top 10
cleanest countries in the world.
"From the video it says that the cleanest country in the world is
Iceland, a country that I have never even heard of.
"From the list of these countries, I start to wonder if Singapore
is a clean country too.
"I decided to share this video because I think Singapore is clean
too, but there is room for improvement.
"Singapore is a green country and the top 10 cleanest countries
should act as our role models".
