TWO teens were charged in court on Wednesday with a robbery with
hurt offence against an elderly woman at Bedok South Avenue 2.
Mohammad Shaffy Hassan, 17, together with his 15-year-old
co-accused, is alleged to have robbed Madam Poh Choo Peng, 69, of
her handbag containing two ez-link cards, a mobile phone and other
items amounting to $228.
During the robbery near Block 31 on Monday evening, they
allegedly punched and kicked the victim on the face and body.
Shaffy was remanded at the Bedok police division for a week with
permission to take him out for investigation.
The juvenile was charged in Juvenile Court and is remanded at
the Singapore Boys' Home until Feb 16.
The maximum penalty for robbery with hurt, is 20 years' jail and
at least 12 strokes of the cane.
