A 37-YEAR-OLD snatch thief was caught on Monday at Jalan Bukit
Merah. He is believed to be responsible for two cases of snatch
theft.
In the first case, the 30-year-old female victim entered the
lift with the suspect, who suddenly grabbed her handbag and purse
just as she stepped out of the lift on the 13th floor.
The victim asked him to return her purse, which he did after
taking $22 dollars cash from it, and even apologised before
fleeing.
The second case was reported on Dec 13. The suspect snatched the
purse of a 61-year-old woman who was waiting with her 32-year-old
daughter in the lift lobby of Blk 7 Jalan Bukit Merah.
He later returned the purse when the victim's daughter pursued
and detained him but still managed to escape.
