A FORMER pub employee was packed off to prison for 39 months on
Thursday for a series of cheating and credit card fraud
offences.
Marc Jason De Souza, 26, who faced 187 charges, had admitted to
20 counts of mainly cheating and cheating by personation involving
about $22,800 from January to August 2010.
The court heard that while he was working in several nightspots,
he had discreetly noted down patrons' credit card details on small
pieces of paper which he would transfer into his notebook.
He then went to an Internet cafe in Geylang and used the
victims' details to buy items such as apparel and electronic
items.
He would also make fraudulent purchases or order booze from pubs
by posing as the victims. The total amount of loss was $66,323.
De Souza has previous convictions for theft as a servant,
criminal breach of trust, and cheating.
