A 42-YEAR-OLD man who was found guilty of molesting his
stepdaughter and forcing her to perform oral sex was sentenced to
44 months' jail and 12 strokes of the cane on Friday.
The safety supervisor was convicted last week of seven charges
after a five-day trial.
The hearing was held in camera behind closed doors.
He was found guilty of using criminal force to outrage the
girl's modesty between 2007 and 2009. The girl is now 15 years
old.
The accused - who conducted his own defence - intends to appeal
against conviction and sentence. Bail of $25,000 was offered,
pending the appeal.
