FOUR men were arrested by police within an hour after they had
robbed a 40-year-old man on Thursday morning.
The victim was walking at the carpark near Block 55 Lengkok
Bahru at 1am on Thursday when he was approached by one of the
suspects who asked him to buy a beer.
The victim declined and walked away but was suddenly grabbed and
hit by two others who snatched his bag before fleeing with another
two men who were nearby. The victim reported the incident to the
police.
Within minutes, officers from Clementi Police Division tracked
down the suspects at the void deck of Block 48 Lengkok Bahru after
a search of the area. The victim's bag, containing his personal
belongings, was recovered nearby.
Two of the suspects, aged 15 and 16, will be charged in court on
Friday for robbery with hurt, which carries a maximum jail term of
of 20 years and at least 12 strokes of the cane. The remaining two
suspects will be released on bail pending further
investigations.
