Yasha the parrot has gotten the green light to run for local office
in Belarus.
Politicians are well known for parroting the party line.
And
it looks like this would-be lawmaker will be no different as, well,
he's actually a parrot.

Yasha
wanted to ruffle some feathers by standing for local election in
Belarus.
With
his slogan "Yasha is good," the mouthy bird aspired to become a
deputy.

After
learning phrases such as "where is money?" and "I want to go to the
council chamber," his dream was close to coming true after owner
Kanstantsin Zhukouski submitted an application for his
candidacy.
Bizarrely, the Mazur electoral commission processed photoshopped
documents, giving the avian activist the green light to stand.

"As
long as there is a passport copy, you may draw even a pig, and as
today’s case shows, even get it registered,
But,
despite being officially approved, Zhukouski claimed Yasha had
pulled out after realizing that "being a regional councilor isn't
very prestigious."
