Police in Boxford, Massachusetts, found the cows in the back
garden of a house after the young partygoers had run off.
The cows had knocked the beer cans over on a table and were
lapping up what had spilled.
They even started foraging around the recycled cans for some
extra drops.
The cows' owner and some friends eventually managed to herd them
home.
In other animal-related news, the German city of Hamelin may be
in need of another Pied Piper as it seems the rats are back.
Officials said a fountain had been put out of service after the
rodents gnawed through a power cable.
Legend says the Pied Piper led all the rats out of Hamelin in
1284 into the River Weser.
But officials said such drastic measures might not be necessary
this time as the fountain is due to be permanently closed because
of its high maintenance costs.
Back on alcohol, a crime reporter and a TV news cameraman have
been accused of robbing an off-licence in Trinidad and getting into
a shootout with the police.
Authorities said Trinidad Express reporter Akile Simon and TV6
cameraman Brendon Alexander teamed up with a security guard and a
taxi driver to commit the robbery in a town outside
Port-of-Spain.
Detectives allege the four posed as police officers, showing the
shop owner a fake warrant.
They deny robbing the store of £18,000 and nine bottles of
whisky.
