Little 'minister' addresses MRT breakdowns, flooding and other
issues in Singlish
If our ministers spoke in Singlish, would they be able to connect
with the people better? This little 'minister' Dr. Jiajia
demonstrates what it would be like.
On a YouTube channel titled 'Singlish lor', this six-year-old boy
and his 'big bludder' have uploaded a series of videos on
Singlish-related humour. In this latest video, they pose the
question on whether it would be more effective if ministers were to
address the public by speaking Singlish, and Dr. Jiajia pretends to
be a minister addressing some of the latest issues in
Singapore.
For instance, when discussing the recent MRT breakdowns, Dr. Jiajia
exclaimed: "Pai seh, very pai seh. When MRT breaks down, really can
die! We have tried our best to prevent this, so it is not we boh
hui (don't care). It is not we bo chup (don't care)."
With regards to the Orchard road flooding, he said: "I know what
you are thinking. Can the government more steady tum poh (little
bit)? The answer is yes, our track record is always steady pom pee
pee (whistling). It is the sky boh pang (don't give) chance, not
the zhen hu (government) boh zho kang (never do work). I know the
barriers buay zai liao (not steady anymore). Sorry this time we lau
kwee (embarrassed)."
The little 'minister' ended his speech by saying, "Steady boh (or
not)?"
6岁童扮部长 Singlish论国事 网上爆红

这位小男童是菩提学校一年级学生蔡景森，绰号“加加博士”（Dr
Jiajia）。年仅6岁的他在过去一年多，已拍摄20多个以“新式英语”为主题的搞笑视频，上载到YouTube网站后，吸引了大票粉丝。
在前天上载的最新视频中，“加加博士”扮成小小部长，对着镜头，以“新式英语”发表演讲，谈论新加坡人面对的3大民生课题，即地铁故障、乌节路淹水和住房问题。他的哥哥蔡景州（12岁）也配合演出。
尽管“部长演讲”掺杂大量方言和非标准英语，却引起许多国人的强烈共鸣，上载仅两天，已吸引5万多人追看。
在谈到地铁故障时，“小小部长”一开始就向国人道歉：“Pai Sei，very Pai
Sei”（抱歉，非常抱歉）。他表示了解国人需要上班和上学，地铁故障“really can
die”（真的很要命），但同时也指出政府已尽力，并非“Bo Chup”（不理不睬）。
对于乌节路淹水，“小小部长”认为，这是由于老天爷“Boh Pang Chance”（不给机会），而不是政府“Bo Zho
Kang”（没做工），但他坦言，淹水事件让政府很“Lau Kwee”（漏气）。
至于住房问题，“小小部长”指出，政府会“Pang Giu”（放球），为年轻夫妇提供购屋津贴。
‘小小部长’有阅读障碍
“小小部长”有阅读障碍，读剧本有困难，需父亲逐字逐句讲解。
“加加博士”的父亲蔡先生（45岁，资讯科技专才）今早受访说：“儿子在两岁时就爱搞笑，常在亲友面前做出好笑的表情，所以他也很享受拍摄搞笑视频。”
不过他透露，儿子被诊断出有阅读障碍，“在幼稚园时，别的同学都会写自己的名字，只有他不会。上了小学，因为学习速度比同学差，他每星期都要去阅读障碍中心上两天课。”
搞笑视频的剧本都由蔡先生撰写，但“加加博士”在阅读时却有困难，“我逐字逐句向他讲解，他会用自己的方式记住，有时还会自由发挥。”
父：孩子平时不说singlish
“加加博士”的父亲认为，接触“新式英语”不妨碍孩子学习标准英语和华语。
在搞笑视频中，“加加博士”一口流利的“新式英语”让很多人叹为观止，不敢相信一个6岁男童能够掌握这么方言词汇。
不过也有部分网民担心，这些搞笑视频不利于孩子掌握标准英语和华语。
对此，蔡先生说：“其实加加是为了拍摄而苦练新式英语，平时他和3个兄妹都不讲新式英语，更不会讲方言。”
他认为，这阶段的孩子语言学习能力很强，“多接触各种不同语言可以开拓视野，并不会妨碍他们学习标准语言。我本身在讲方言的环境下成长，但能够以标准英语和外国人交谈。”
