As part of its initiatives to improve the lives of persons
with disabilities, the Ministry of Community Development, Youth and
Sports (MCYS) is inviting taxi operators to propose and operate a
service that can accommodate different types of wheelchairs.
The London cabs are the only ones in Singapore that can fit
wheelchairs which are larger than normal. With the pending
expiry of their licences in March 2012, the cabs would have to be
scrapped. Such wheelchair users would thus be left without a proper
mode of transport...
