kenn3th SG My Dad says that Driving in a highway needs more petrol than city driving, cause speeds are faster, then i say city needs more petrol, cause need to brake more often, then acc again. which one is right leh
kenn3th SG cause life motoring always state the petrol consumption one ma they always say: " city: XXXkm/l and highway xxxkm/l " always highway more km/l of petrol one
T.Ryousuke SG Highway all the way rpm 3k above FC sure suffer. City driving depand on yr right foot and b4 red light 50m away if still accelerate ofcourse will waste more fuel. Also depand on auto or manual. In normal driving, city is 20-30% more than highway.
HeXy SG U are right, city driving more petrol consuming. Coz need to brake and accelerate again. But on the highway, ur RPM is kept low so that it is fuel saving, unless u like to ram ur car on the highway.
drumstick SG ASk your dad to go for a test. 20km distant. Highway: 80 - 90km/h on around 3k rpm constantly. City: anyspeed, any gear to reach the distant. ( coz theres no way to remain at 90km/h in the city due to traffic lights. )
ditzy SG Driving in the city, you don't have to rev all the way to 3k just to accelerate from stationary one. You can limit yourself to 2k, just that accelaration to your desired city driving speed will be slow. Also you must factor in how many people in the car. Your car heavier of course will slow you down and eat more.
tailslide SG of course city driving consume more fuel lah. got traffic lights/ vehicles blocking u etc. imagine army run standard obstacle course; run the route and clear obstacles more tiring or just run the route more tiring?
