modem not working

I just reinstall my win98 and then my pc can't detect modem. i got internal modem. i didn't have the modem driver. try install normal driver and it didnt work. already check that no port conflict. its just that somehow my modem 'disappear'. should i buy new modem? thinking of getting external modem but how much is the cheapest?

dont come to a conclusion that ur internal modem has gone bad. first try to get the driver file of that device. and install it an go to control pannel >modems>an then more info. now the system performs communication check. see whether it works. if it works then ur modem is working fine.
