Can anybody help an novice find his way with this problem

when tryin to open a programme to download pictures from my digital
camera I am getting two messages
c:\Programme Files\OLYMPUS\CAMEDIA Master 1.0\Olympus Camedia.exe A
device attached to sytem is not functioning
This is followed by the error message:
MSVCIRT.DLL file is linked to missing export
MSVCRT.DLL`[email protected]@Z
The Camera is fine and seems OK, I have previously downloaded
pictures without any problems
Please can you help a non techie user through this ?? Many thanks,
