need help on driving

hi all, i m currently a L-plate driver.
i realize tat when i stop the car stationary at traffic light or etc, my moving off is very slow coz my instructor teach me to slowly release the clutch to biting point then slowly accelerate. But i find this process very slow, and sometime the car behind will horn me. i ask my instructor but he juz said its ok, slow and steady. but i find my slow moving off will cos inconvenience to other road users, eg when right turning, the green arrow actually last for 10 secs but only my car can turn cos as i turn the light turn amber.

so i hope all the pro driver here can give me advice on how to move off faster...thanx Very Happy

by right as a learner, you're not supposed to move off until the light turns green.

so the only way you can move off faster is by understanding the car and knowing where the biting point is.

u can always prepare half clutch while waiting for light to turn green. Laughing

Accelerate while releasing clutch. You can move off faster. Don’t give your tester chance to deduct points from you in TP.

Upgrade your clutch to a high performance one, no need what half clutch thing, just lift your foot off without concern. Downside is you have to replace it more frequently, and the strain on your neck. Laughing

Once you see amber light or blinking green man, can start to find biting point. Then when the light turns green, you can move off

Anyway, just let them horn u lar ... if not they no chance to test horn leh ...

hi kookeee,

i'm a not pro driver, but on your situation, i can suggest:

1) listen to your instructor, if he/she says its ok. its >90% safe (you really only need to pass and get the license)

2) if getting the biting point is your concern, take your time to get the biting point and when you got it, press the accelerator harder (it'll definitely move faster)

3) if getting the biting point is not a concern, try learning to hold the biting point to a point where the car will not slide back or move forward, hold it there while waiting for traffic lights or cars to clear. but same, step on your gas harder to pick up faster.

4) remember to heed your instructor's advices, they'll help u get your license.

since u're still a L-plate driver jus listen to wat ur instructor says, don have to worry much bout those horning all tat. since u have the L-plate at the back of the car, don worry tat u'll cause any inconvenience to other road users unless they wanna disturb u or show off. at most when they overtake u, u stare at them n tailgate them. Laughing jus kidding.

if u're slow in moving off when u have the L-plate, it's understandable.
but once u got the license, slowly from there, u sure can get the timing rite n fast in moving off.
