Will Working People Ever Get Rich ???

From my personal experience: Engineers don’t get rich, for the kind of effort they put in, for the kind of contribution they make to a company, for the amount of time they sacrifice, they get paid pittance. For the same amount of effort, energy and time you will be well off in say accounting or finance. Of course, as someone mentioned, if you are truly one of those exceptional minds and perhaps working NOT in Singapore you might get rich.

The only attractive thing is that the starting pay of engineers looks high compared to other professions (still can’t compete with finance and bizz grads though) but salary and career advancement is quite slow and stagnant.

In today's Straits Times there was an article about some salary report. The only thing they mentioned about engineering is that starting pay is high, $2800 for fresh degree grad (anyway i dont see whats so special about this as it has remained at this level for the past 10 years). Not a single word on career advancement or salary increments or salry levels of mid-career proffessionals and such.

to all Engineers specialised in different fields. Some specialised field , the practical work is so un-attractive. Like geotechnical , geophysicists and mining engineers. lol.. the work environment they gotta be put through. Withouth them.. there wouldve been no progress.

How about scientists ler.. the amout of time and bs they gotta put in. lol. May never even see any immediate results in thier lifetime man.

It really depend. When you study engineering is doesnt necessary means that you will always end up spending your entire working life in the production floor as technical manager etc. Many people I know have gone from being an engineer to become sales director and their own bosses of the company.

The strength of an engineer is that when you have learned how to the manufacturing process of certain products, you can then copy the technical know-how and start your own company, either by your own or with partners.

Most are Con....sultants. No doubt they have the experience and knowledge, but imagine you pay them their time advising you, so , they will dread on and con you further. In the end, most experience are trained on how to con then on how to advice pple correctly.

People pay alot of money to these specialised consultants for thier years of experience and expertise. If shit hits the fan who you think gets the mother load ? The Contractor , the Client.. or the Consultant ? Businessman can retire with all that money yes , sure. Hell i wanna be a business man too.. cause i reckon i can con more people then being an Engineering consultant.

You think everybody has no more ethics and professionalism in the world and in thier work already is it ?

Basic accounting can liao mah, me just got a diploma in it ok liao mah, just debit and credit, balance the damn shit and the cash will start to flow. Most importantly, to manage you must learn to be a good leader and know the skill of delegations, then you can shake legs and earn big bucks.
