Which is better?Subaru Impreza 1.6i or Mitsubishi Lancer 1.6

I am planning to get a Mitsubishi Lancer 1.6 or a Subaru Impreza 1.6i.
Which is better in terms of HANDLING, APPEARANCE, PERFORMANCE, RESALE VALUE and DURABILITY?

Ford Focus 1.6l….. comes with 5 years warranty…. a very good thing to have…. it’s 5 years free of extra maintenance costs… only pay for the car…..

I am driving a Lancer 1.6. Did minor mod to the car. Easily outrun any TS out there. As TS is 4WD, power is spread across 4 wheels. Unlike Lancer FWD.

But in terms of petrol consumption wise:
Subaru is very high, bcos the body is very heavy and its AWD, unlike Lancer where the body is light.

yea.many ppl sell their Impreza bcos of the high petrol cost that kills them.

that what i know ( some of the comments of Impreza are what i heard frm my friends and tchers who drive them )

will see what u want.. safety? Get a Impreza I.. Impreza is a much more safer car to drive..better grip, low CG and traction.. do a search on the net.. safely rating "GOLD" btw the impreza i have a better consumption frm the previous gen TS.. current Impreza are using aluminum bonnet summore.. lancer handling not very good and poor sound insulation..FC not that impressive also.. using a old engine..bodyrolls.. thats why the cheap price.. export value.. Confirm Impreza have a better exports value.. my friend five year old TS(M) body worth 6k-7k.. check out lancers..

Btw which tranmission are u going for? Lancer Auto CVT? heard Lancer got a problematic CVT gearbox..

Best.. test out both cars and compare...

Lancer….. Old engine means reliable engine. Also agreed that the Subaru’ FC not too good. If you’re not a tiongster and just need a family sedan from point A to point B, then lancer will just worked out fine.

only thing good about impreza is 4wd... but then its not like it has 1000Nm of torque and requires treaction to all 4 wheels.... though stable drinks like hell.... weigh the pros and cons.. not as if u gonna corner at 80km/h.. then again dun think u can make that corner with those rear drum brakes Laughing

lancer is good looks only... hao kan bu hao chi... SOHC old engine cmi... not really very efficient.. or most powerful of its class.... cvt smooth transmission... but critisized heavily for its lack of power by the ignorant... comes with rear drums to spoil ur sporty looks....

imho... both are shyt.... consider other cars.....

naturally speaking, one considers his budget before shortlisting a few cars to compare. in this case, impreza & lancer. i don't understand why you have to use 'shyt' to describe what others know what they want already.

because top end cars need better braking capabilities to match their better performance.

but we're talking about a commoner's real world scenario, a commoner's choice of common cars with a common budget, common performance that doesn't require top end braking capabilities.

u are right on the spot.. so when one doesnt need top end performance one doesnt really need 4wd... so much so that it is at a heavy expense on fuel... with such a good drivetrain but without a good set brakes to complement is quite a waste...

haha ok sorry for my overreaction.

ya personally between the 2 i'll pick lancer for it being 10k cheaper and more frugal on fuel. if i'm particular, i can use some of these savings to improve the brakes and the suspension. but, i'll never ever spend it on wasteful styling mods that will make myself an evo wannabe. Laughing

yea vios is a purposeful addition into this range too. it's not so popular for nothing. but precisely because it's so popular, threadstarter wouldn't have overlooked it. perhaps he's not considering it due to reasons like space constraint, made-in-thailand?
