SINGAPORE : The prices of some food items are up because energy
and commodity prices have risen.
But according to Senior Minister of State for National
Development and Education Grace Fu, prices are not expected to
spike sharply.
Speaking to reporters after launching a web portal, Ms Fu added
that the government will consider importing pork from countries
like Malaysia.
"We look at each of these countries... on a risk—managed
perspective... Not only do we look at the supply of meat from a
certain country, we will also accredit the abattoir as well as the
way the meat is being processed," said Ms Fu. — CNA /ls
