she hates me to the core. her family hates me to the core. i
might get killed if im in sight of them.

you leave her be instead of taking the risk to have her agonized if
she were to find out that the gift is from you?
I think the most mature thing to do here is not to disturb her
peace; if you feel obliged, I think leaving her alone while saying
a prayer for her to be safe and sound would be the best gift. Take
2 steps back and consider this, doing something that might cause
her to be in distress to 'oblige your own feelings'... Really,
whose ego are you trying to stroke?
