Many of us living in the modern era believe that a man of science of logic cannot believe in so called intelligent designer out there and even if the scientist do believe , they will not said so in fear of being ridiculed by their scientific community as jokers.

So an italian scientist now deceased once said:"When I tell a young person: Look, there is a new star, a galaxy, a neutron star 100 million light-years away, yet the protons, electrons; neutrons and mesons which are found there are identical with those which are found in this microphone... Identity excludes probability. That which is identical is not probable... Therefore there is a cause, outside of space, outside of time, the master of being, which made being to be in this way. And this is God...

So in time does religions that one practised now will be the new enlightened sicence of our future? Did not jesus once siad so ye shall know the truth and so ye are gods?

We may never be able to solve the social ills of the world. That is the nature of men. We are selfish. But if there is to be a solution to the problems we face, it will come from a greater understanding of the world we live in, not from religion.

There is some truth to that. The problem with accepting supernatural explanations is that it's no explanation at all. When you think you have the answers, why should you investigate deeper?

One good example is Michael Behe. Micheal Behe was once a real scientist and earned his PhD in Biochemistry from the University of Pennsylvania. He's the person responsible for bringing concepts of creationism/intelligent design to the the molecular level. He came up witht he concept of irreducible complexity - that there are certain biochemical structures that could not possibly have evolved, because their component parts could not have evolved on their own.

Micheal Behe's used the bacterial flagellum as his example of irreducible complexity. He argued that the bacterial flagellum was a biological outboard motor which could not possibly have evolved. Each component of the flagellum motor system was useless on it's own so there was no way that the flagellum motor system could have incrementally evolved.

And that's the problem of invoking god. Once you do that, it's the end of scientific enquiry. God did it! There's your answer. Why was it designed that way? Well God felt like it!

Real scientists however continue to investigate. They found that the components of the bacterial flagellum motor were in fact, useful on their own and that evolved from the Type 3 secretory system.

Michael Behe was throughly debunked in court during the Kitzmiller vs Dover trial.

This is just one example of how intellectually bankrupt the intelligent design movement is.

Evolution is a blind clockmaker.

Intelligent design is very flawed theory because each time they hit a wall, they just run to god and say he did it. What kind of scientific theory can you make out of that cope out?

Some seriou scientist are very religious people, its just that they are smart or logical enough to separate out faith and logic and not decide to lump together to produce some crackpot theory that cannot be support.

To the threadstarter, religion is not the solution to our social ills. I ask you this, what is the cause of the crusades? Religion. What the is the cause of terrorism? Religion. So you telling me you want religion to solve our social ills? I'm not saying science is the solution either but religion sure as hell ain't one.

I know that there are many men of science out there that actually has faith.....

only those that believe that we are mere matter are the ones who dun believe in a god.....

well actually there are a hell load of information that we have not or may never even attain if we were to survive for a billion years.....

like thunder per say.......right up till now, we only have theory of who it came to be.......no proper answer.....juz theory which we accept as a temporary answer........

even evolution cannot be totally accepted......there are many from the animal and vegetation kingdom which for millions of years never change......

i've seen this documentary where someone was trying to convince people that chimps are people too....that they have their own language etc.....

but then when he talked to a scientist, he said that chimps are not people.....they do not have languages like us etc......

Scientists can still believe in religion what.
Just that they do not apply religion when doing Science.
Otherwise, everything can simply be explained as "God-Did-It"...end of story...
Also, they don't apply scientific skepticism/rational-thinking when they return back to their religious mode.
