cubic centimetres... or rather cm to the power of 3 aka volume... 1cm3 is equals to 1 ml so 1300cc is is 1.3litres...

is referring to the capacity of the engine.... bigger capacity means can chiong faster and quicker... Very Happy

not always true bro...it depends on the technology used on the engine block also...for eg. a b16 can generate more horsepower than a 2L camry/cefiro...but torque wise...usually bigger engines have advantage. but for smaller engines, it can be compensated by using FI.

anyways... i know a b16 engine can generate more hp than a camry.. but then again.. the b series engine is what we call an oversquare engine.. the stroke is shroten to make its redline higher.. since hp is directly proportionate to how high u rev.. the hp of b engines, coupled with vtec to maximize engine efficiency.. is veh high.. but at the expense of low end torque.. the max torque of a b engine is produced at ard 7k rpm...

fun talk abt FI la...lets say both engines have the same compression ratio and valve timing la....but one has a bigger bore or stroke...surely more powerful wad...

not 1.3cc lah... it's 1.3l. 1.3l = 1300cc. it is a volume, the total volume of the engine cylinders when uncompressed, i think. the higher the volume, the bigger the space and thus more fuel and air can mix and burn. you can increase your cc by boring your cyclinders and increasing the diameter of the pistons, but i don't think anyone here can or know how to do that.

displacement is the piston upwards travel. the more it travels, the more fuel/air it is able to suck into the cylinder. displacement can be increased by replacing a racing camshaft.

Make it simple. The higher the CC normally drinks more petrol. Lower drink lesser. But depends on the built and catogery.

Whether an engine can run better will have to depend on the weight distribution ratio and engine plateform and design.

JUst like why a RX8 1.3 rotary can win a 2.4L camery
Or why a lancer 1.6sohc can't win a 2.4 camery

CC is like a name or level given for the engine in terms of volume.
As what most people says the higher the better. Which is why you would see that Lambos have more than 6L

For lower CC which wants to gain more HP and Torque, it would be FI (Forced induction like Super charger, Turbos ). These FI helps the engine to generate a bigger flow in terms of HP and Torque which you can see the EVOs or Rex.
How come an EVO = 2L and Camery = 2L, an Evo can over take it anytime.

Same CC need not necessary means having the same output.If they do not have Turbos or charges, the next thing would be look at the desgin plateform. If compare a VVTI (Toyota Camery 2.0) and a Dohc (Honda Civic 2.0). VVTI is meant for fuel saving but dohc is for more power.

think i need to correct u on this point...u have a misunderstanding on VVTI vs DOHC... DOHC stands for Double Over Head Cam while VVTI is Variable Valve Timing with Inteligience which is a valve controlling technology to close certain valves when not required thus saving more fuel. if u want to talk about valve technology, u should be using VVTI vs VTEC... VTEC means Variable Valve Timing and lift Electronic Control. VTEC is more because it has another set of cams for hi lift producing more peak BHP.

ok, talking about DOHC...most vehicles are using DOHC nowadays compared to olden days where SOHC(single overhead cam) is more common. DOHC is used to produce more power but results in lousier FC but compensating that is modern technology like VVTI, I-DSI to operate sufficient valve for better FC.

i really must correct u on this....VVTI is not abt saving fuel....VTEC also ma....VVTI is valve timing...DOHC stands for DBL overhead Cams......and having DOHC does nto necassarily mean more power....and FI kits do not help generate bigger flow for the engine....the correct term is to increase volumetric efficiency...its the easiest way of gaining BHP....but whats the pt of adding that when u can only run on low boost? leaving the engine as it is is always the best....and BTW there are more factors of getting mroe power out of an engine rather than just valve timing.... Sorry, just a comment on the RX8 here.....

The RX8 has Mazda's proprietary rotary engine, which is powerful. It has no capacity as in a normal piston engine. The 1.3 litres declared for it is only for local road tax purposes and can be misleading (in many other countries, this declaration doesn't always exist because foreign road taxes are not always tied to engine cc).

My friend has an RX8 and for insurance purposes, its classified as a 4-door car (which it is, strictly speaking). Basket.....

Mazda Singapore did a very good job with specifying the car for local use. hahahaha.....

the capacity of rx-8 is indeed 1.3litre... though it might be a rotary engine it still has a capacity...

a rotary engine in rx-8 has 2 rotars.. each has 0.650litres of capacity...
