I myself now in ns haha and my frd in final semester in poly mah and he wanted to go uni like so badly then ask me wad ito do

stanlinyun SG

Hey guys , I have a friend who have both Poly and A level cert, his Poly GPA is merely 2.8 and his A level only got 2 A level borderline passes E E O Maths , Physics and F maths. Will this additional A level cert help him in his Local Uni admission since he have extra A level qualifications compare to most Poly students who only have just a Poly cert but with a GPA around 3.1 and so on?

HyuugaNeji SG

No. With the A level cert, it will only reflect even more badly of him and will make his application appear worse.

tell your fren he can apply to go SIMuni though

stanlinyun SG

i tot it will help him cost at the application there is one part where they ask for xtra qualification mah

HyuugaNeji SG

If he got an A, E, O or B, C, F, then it would be not bad as you can tell the person you scored A for maths for example. But E, E, O...sorry it will only make things worse.

But you can try to hide it in your resume...say you pass your 2 A level subjects.

motoway SG

eh. Apply SIM la.

2 wrongs dun make a right.

piakpiak SG

He should retake A lvls

I hope you know that, in Poly GPAs are cGPA. Which means they follow you for your entire 3 years in Poly. Unlike A Levels, You can actually slack for say the first semester and still do it for A Levels if you work hard enough.

But for poly, once you fuck up one semester, it's all over. Besides, nowadays, even with a 3.1 GPA, it doesn't guarantee admission to U. So yea..

i dun tink 3.1 can go in. So far the least GPA i know of that went in is 3.4. and that person had a good CCA record to boot.

Agenda SG

3.0 to be eligible I think, probably slim chance of getting admitted depending on faculty. But my CM told me that 3.5 more or less guarantees entry, for my course that is but not sure whether is it for the entire University or just for the Computer Science course.

not likely to get in. both Alevel and diploma grade r too low n there is no such thing u can combine both cert for uni admission.

unless there is such thing call lady luck.

stanlinyun SG

as in when u apply under category B they ask if u got xtra qualification and u can choose A lvl cert but doesnt having an A lvl cert shows that u took the subject before n u passed the subject making u haing more knowledge n giving u advantage on admission?

sbst275 SG

Think can only apply using indv category, cannot mix

Agenda SG

The problem is, you passed but you are not very good at it. They rather choose someone who's GPA or A Levels result is better than yours.

motoway SG

CANNOT LA.

A lvl cert is Kum lan one. Lousy cert means boh eng lo.

I tink the extra qualification part is like CFA ACCA those kind ijjit.

798 SG

unless the poly grade is somewhere 3.2 n a good grade for english n math for Alvl, maybe it will be an advantage for admission.

stanlinyun SG

btw which course is the least demand n easiest to enter in NUS and NTU as my frd is dying to enter the uni.

Zao3 zhi1 jing1 ri4, he2 bi4 dang1 chu1.

If he's dying to get into uni he shld haf worked hard from the start.

Anyway try real estate management or sumthing liddis from NUS if he's reali so despo coz tt course is JC dumping ground.

I think min GPA is 3.4 with good cca grades. Otherwise need at least 3.6.

tell your fren retake A level as private candidate lor...i got a fren retake A level...from fail to B, B, C, then get into uni. Since your fren is a guy, tell him to retake A level as private candidate lor...he got 2 years in army to buck up and get into uni.

frankly speaking, it seems to me ur friend was not serious in his studies. firstly he screw his jc n went to poly, then poly grade also like dat...

even if he can heng heng admit into uni, doubt he can go thru all the way if he continue to treat studies slackingly.

best is ask him to opt for poly course again to get better grade.

your friend is actually you right?
