My parents have no savings. They did not have high education but worked their ass off to support my brothers and I through school. I am glad to be able to support them in return now. Not sure what you are trying to say with this thread...

single parent low income. den move in wif mi later. has no thoughts about the future now. barely managing as the days go by. no insurance. probably has no retirement funds.

parents moving in might happen la in the future wen i get finish ns, clear bond and get a job.

I think..both sons should share the financial burden of taking their parents. Even though the parents are not staying with him, he should at least fork out some money for the parents monthly.

By right, parents take care of you since you are a vulnerable baby t an adult who can support himself, they should deserve to be taken care of.

Anyway Old people also can work mah.

Parents asking for support is one thing. Parents insisting on staying together is another.

Support can come in many forms. We don't have to live together to give support. It's only right to support them financially and be there for them when they need you. But I am not for staying with in laws. Support them, fine.

Two son is not as bad as one child, or rather single child like me. I can't spilt taking care job with my parents. But they decided to move back to Malaysia after they retire, which I somehow don't like the idea. Has you people know, Malaysia. Confused

Like I said, we do not know the whole story. So don't be so quick to shoot others down.

I totally agree that children should not be treated as a form of investment. it is very sad that some parents have such thinking. Parent to child love is the most basic humanity, and it is lost here.

Yes, that's my point. Parents shd not treat their children as a form of investment. I find that the more they hope, the more disappointed they are.

Not that the children not unwilling to support them but just not comfortable in staying with them cos he got his own lifestyle with spouse & in laws etc.

You know when his frens or spouse side relative come, he has to pre-inform them so as to make them feel at ease/comfort but then the parent will go hiding. Which makes him feel guilty and awkward/dilema between inviting & not inviting Confused
