From the beginning of 1.88% interest rates, it has droped to 1.8%, than 1.5%, than 1.2% and now finally to 0.8%

Yup, I just received a mail from them about this. Anyway, more or less expected that their not going to keep the rates at 1.8% for the long run when I signed up.

So what other good banks are there to put our $?

Maybank seems quite good too but they do not have the free chequebook and debit card like the esaver account..

Wait a minute, Esaver acct does not offer free chequebook and debit cards pls. Get your facts right.

THe backbone of Esaver acct is that, the banks does away with all the non vital services like passbook, cheque book, atm/debit cards, and channel all these saved expenses into giving you a higher rate.

Maybank has a isaver e account scheme, that offers 1.65% per annum but i have doubts in putting my $ in a Malaysian bank. I have not much faith in the Malaysian regulators.

esaver does not have atm card and passbook.

But you can apply esaver together with xtrasaver account. xtrasaver account gives you a debit card and chequebook which you can use to check your balance in esaver account and also to draw out money from esaver account
