First of all, I've got to say I respect you very much in
starting this forum... but...
you see... jpop really means popular and that kind of stuff... in
S'pore... most pple who listen to jpop devote themselves to one and
maybe a few group of artistes at any one time. Those same pple
subscribe to one & maybe a few groups not only for their style
of music, but also for the lifestyle the artiste appears to be
representing and promoting. Surfing thro'the net and it would be
difficult to find good sites, those frequently updated and
comprehensive in content relating to jpop in general. Contrast that
to sites started by fans of the different artistes; they are even
separate sites who differ in focus of the same artist for listeners
who differ in taste, age, culture, and even country of origin. It
is not really practical for those pple to visit here, much less
post comments, as there is already a more than sufficient number of
sites which cater to their needs. S'pore just ain't that big... it
might be useful to start this jpop forum with a larger potential
group in mind, targeting non-locals. The crux of the issue is that
the nature of j-pop, dictates that the majority who follow it,
cannot follow the ~whole~ of jpop. I believe some of the points
have been considered by you and I hope you would re-consider. I
will very much understand and admire any decision you make, as you
are commited to your conviction. Some pple have neither the
commitment nor the conviction. Rest assure that there is a
significant population who listens to jpop... well... fragments of
it anyway. Stay cheerful.
