there is no aftermarket product that actually works in saving fuel, all those are snake oil…dont waste ur money on those. best fuel saving is ur driving style and expect a evo9 to drink so much, its normal.

I am driving a manual Nissan Sunny FL. Everyone says it's a drinker but my average FC is 15km/liter.

Not achievable? Some light modification and simple habit I have done:

1) Be merciful on your right foot....this is where most fuel are saved. I try to maintain 2000rpm but PLS DO NOT ROAD HOG.

2) After run in, change to full synthetic engine oil.

3) A simple cold air intake modification that cost me $60 (my car not fog lightso take the air from there)

4) Change spark plug every 20K(use only original parts)

5) If no need to much aircon, control abit cos this will saved u 5 - 10% fuel.

Pls take note city drive and highway makes a big difference.

Other gadget I have not tried but like someone says....machiam snake oil.

i shift up before 3k i seldom use aircon leh … maybe its the car type tat matters … but somehow i think something could be done … cause my car smell like petrol station when i stop at traffic like .. i think using too much excess petrol?

your 1 tank is till when the needle all the way to "E"? or just when the light up?
how long have u been driving?
estimated percentage of city/highway/idling at east coast?

If you're lucky, you can get 8km/l on the rx-8, so your evo9 shouldn't be that bad. Laughing

turbo engine usually run richer, thats why u smell alot of gas at the traffic light, it could also be tat u decat ur exhaust system. for tc car…min recommended requirement is 98. well, already said dont expect ur evo9 to drink less even if u dont rev hard and u shouldnt be worrying too much about ur FC if ure so concern then dont drive.

I'm not too sure about TC cars. But can you lean your fuel regulator. Get after market one that has a varible settings. Cause you said that you smell petrol when idling, my best bet is that the fuel is too rich. SO too much excess of fuel not combust.......
But i also got mechanic that says if the fuel is too little in the combustion chamber , it might cause some problems. I think better to get the car to a mechanic and tune the fuel regulator. At least, anything happens can blame on mechanic.

ty all ... its not really to the extend that i will reduce my travel ... but jus trying to save some money ... i mean doesn't mean buy evo then can anyhow throw away money ... got lotsa of loan to pay each month wat ... so need to save a bit here and there ... Confused

Before you bought the evo9 you know its going to drink fuel like no tomorrow, and the loan that has to be settled monthly won't be cheap either, its like its like.......it just doesn't add up. Laughing

bro, i wouldnt recommend u lean ur mixture. its better to run rich then to run lean n risk blown engine. 12.3 afr would be gd,not the reco 14.3. i notice not much difference too when u rev full tank,or u drive conservatively full tank.just do ur regular servicing n change ur fuel filter at regular intervals. invest in gd tinting so ur aircon works less hard,all these helps. oh and reduce any weight u can. check ur oxygen sensor too. Smile

Change to a different type of aircon gas. Well, that’s what one of my customers told me. He did it on his own car and said his FC was lowered by 10%. Got to do with rate of compression gas thingy which in turns lesser work load on the compresser.
