Wanted some opinions on the above cars

Pricing:

AMV8: 470-480k for demo model
GT3: 420-430k (PI) / 520-530k (Stuttgart)
C2S: 370-380 k (PI) / 430-440k (Stuttgart)
XKR: 350k (Malayan Motor)

Would appreciate your comments.

BTW if anyone is interested in a mid 2003 SL, Brilliant Silver, Grey interior, Full AMG Kit (incl. 19" wheels), mileage: 24k, spin booster installed, pls pm me.

all depends on your driving style and what you want to car to accomplish...

the more focused machines are the 997 GT3 and C2S. Loud and boomy... the GT3, C2S is a bit more refined.

luxury with a bit of speed and for grand touring... the XKR, though in recent times, jag have gotten lots of compliments on their suspension set up. A decent drive... though Jags have ford written all over them... hmmm.

as for the AM, it will slot somewhere in between the jag and the porsche... still a decent drive, but whether the brit cars are that reliable??

i am v tempted by the AMV8 as well but the heavy clutch is my main concern... haas anyone tried the Maserati QP.. I test drived one today and it drives like a dream! a 1 year old car at about 280-290 is a steal these days... would appreciate your views .. tho am v concerned about the servising at hong seh as I seem to have more trust with the Stuttgart guys.

just that am very confused on what to get next after selling current car. Dont want to buy new as depr will be massive in the first year. So far i have been buying 2nd hand (1-2 yr old cars) and the depr for using the cars for 1 additional year of use is no more than 8-9% p.a

unless there is a 2nd hand M5 coz new M5 depr will surely kill... previous car was an M3(black manual) that I bought pre-owned (1 yr 9 mnths) for $241k and sold it for $215k after exactly 1 yr. (depr of only $26k (c. 8% of new purchase price) compared to new owners depr of c. 30%)

but i noticed that porsche seems to hold their value far better ... tho recently they are dropping their new car prices across the board (brand new S manual for 414k b4 options - 430-440k aftr options - such prices were unheard of a few yrs ago)

The FC is normally quite high. A single fill up for my current car is about $130 and if over 1 weekend of city driving, it can quite easily go through 1/2 a tank and the remining 1/2 for the daily drive to work from home.

Dont think will be getting an Audi RS4 as its too close to a M3. However the new Lexus LF-A and the GTR that will be coming out next year may be v interesting buys!! Hence may wait for 6- 12 months b4 getting next car. Hopefully by then, there will be 1 yr preowned GT3s and AMv8s

i suspect the LFA wont be coming out. and the GTR would take even longer than expected to be in production. even so, waiting list should be a killer.

those german and british sports cars u listed should be reliable and practical, except the GT3 of course. Laughing

Apparently the GT3 is really hardcore stuff and won't really make a liveable car in terms of noise and comfort. Depends on what you're looking for in the drive. Style, performance, comfort? All rounder? Uniqueness?

I would quite likely choose the GT3 though just because it is that mad! If I were to go for it, I'd aim pretty damn far.

Though it looks like you do enjoy the luxuries in the car, have you considered a Lotus?

supposedly the new gt3 is a far more comfortable car than the existing gt3 .. i tried the 2004 model gt3 and it drives real hard... i guess i will wait for one to arrive on our shores b4 i buy one...

maybe the C2s would be a nice balance or an AMv8 ....

i find that if you do enough homework and be patient about choosing the right car, colour, mileage and condition, a preowned high end performance car can be quite a rewarding buy ....

the dates for the lexus lf-a and gtr were from autocar magazine (uk edition) under the New Car launch dates and so far they have been quite accurateg.
