how much is it worth for these cars in their 2nd hand form? they muz be registered in 2005 or 06...

peugeot 407 2.0
alfa romeo 156 2.0

please advise on the prices and also tell me wat to look out for when test driving...i'm not driving it, it's my fren who is...i still 17

It would be advisable to buy new ones.
Price diff wont be much at the most 3k different . Second hand finance interest is slight 0.1- 1 % higher.

Go for first hand. 05 Jan - June would be about the same price as a brand new one now. 05 Nov - 06 April would only be 3k lower. Unless your fren can find anyone who can slash down their price on the 2nd hand car. Or those desperate seller who would sell at paper value.

all not worth to get 2nd hand...y? bcos 2 models already can reach top speeds in a matter of low secs and translate that will be like engine may need an overhaul etc etc.

407 is "still" relatively new...dun think its worth to get a 2nd hand unless condition is tip top. so far i dun see alot of pple re-selling 407 nor the other 2 models as well.

Personally i wouldnt mind a 2nd hand one.

I dun think its correct to say that a car depreciates only $3K in the first year.

Anyone who sells car will know that in the first two years, the depreciation of the car is more like $10K a year.

For example there is a red Evo in SgCarMart that is one year old and is selling at about $100K. Thats like about $30K depreciation.

Euro R uses the Type R K20. It is a very strong engine. Some pple has even termed it as "bulletproof". So unless the car is like 3 years old and the owner whacks the car every day with out ever changing his engine oil, i dun think the engine is in need of a overhaul.

I am not familiar with the other models u listed.

In my opinion, price of the 2nd hand car is important and also it would be good if you knew the history of the car (like a family friend, or a mechanics recommendation).

what u say on engine overhaul i beg to differ. a yr old engine can still be overhauled...just that u have not encountered one doesn't mean it will not happen.

as u have put it, accord euro R is using K20(A), same as integra (not KM model) and some even have tried to put this engine into a jazz/fit which is possible. and y? bcos of its reputed power and of the speed it can achieve...dun u think chongster will go all the way wif this engine? not changing engine oil and so on just contributes to the earlier date of overhauling the engine.

to add on, i agree that the history of the car (if its euro R n alfa 156), one need to be more prudent in checking up the background. that car may have been involved in alot of "activities".

Oh course u can overhaul your engine after a year. In fact u can overhaul your engine anytime u want. Just that i dun think it is an urgent need.

I have not seen any Type R engine that in urgent need of an overhaul after one year.

And if I am such an enthu to think and plan such major projects like the Dynamite Fit, i would be an enthu with enough common sense to take care of my engine with regular servicing.

I whack my car anytime i want till 9K, but i change my oils religiously every 5K.

I would think that my engine is in need of an overhaul anytime soon.

u can change oil regularly doesn't mean others will follow suit.

for singapore arh? 1 -2 yr old cars should be fine....normal family saloon.

but the cars that threadstarter wanted to get 2nd hand....abit difficult on the "should be ok" side. mostly u see these cars either chongsters or heavily modded (in n out under the hood). not advisable to get 2nd hand unless he personally know the condition of the car.

advise is still to proceed with caution bah. all big cc cars somemore...sakali waste $$ then not worth liao lor.

okay…thanks for the advise anyway, my fren is actually looking a car for him to drive to sch, then after sch go work in town then after tat chiong home, he does drive safety though, but have a power-packed engine to feel abit of the shiokness u noe? ya…thanks anyway again

Nope. Look at the prices of last yr and now. From jan - june, it is about 10 - 14 k higher then now.
June - Dec about 5k higher then now

1 good example.
Lancer 04 dec = 67k
Lancer 06 Aug = 47k
(both are the sport MT version)
See liao.. I bo wei kong... kaozz... 20k diff... Gahment make me vomit blood...

Depriciation is going at about 5k a yr for a jap car. Thats the averege. for 1.6 car
