Well, I was in a similar situation as you. Wanted to buy this
book from amazon and I couldn't find it at Borders and Kino.
So I approached the staff at the Kino book counter and asked them
whether they can check their databases for its availability after
giving them the book's ISBN. Upon checking, they confirmed with me
that they don't, but they said that they will import it over.
It normally takes around 2 weeks and when I asked them with regards
to the costs structure, they said it was around the region of $20
dollars. Mine was a soft-cover novel, so if yours is some thick and
heavy leather-bound text, perhaps the price would be more
expensive?
I calculated the price i had to pay amazon versus the quotation
that Kino was offering, and needless to say, Kino won hands
down.
Do note that most of the titles that Borders and Kino carry are
obtained from overseas, so most probably they are simply inserting
my request as an additional line order from their overseas
supplier.
