After death, you go to the place where you stayed before you were born.

do u all believe in life after death? at this time of the night wondering......Im so afraid of dying. not because of really dying but rather not finishing my things i left undone in this world.

Then, i tink, all tat deja vu, out of body experience, dreams have me really tinking that there is life after death. The decay of our physical bodies doesn't mean the end of everything. All that we have learnt, experienced, cherished, will be brought along to another higher plane of existence.

Im not quoting any religion here but rather in general, no heaven no hell, just a higher dimension that the consciousness will live in. I read this book hyperspace by Micho Kaku. There's this future speculated inside the book that someday humans will abandon their physical bodies and let their consciousness roam around the universe.

Eventually, everybody's consciousness will merge into one and the question of identity of who's who will no longer make sense. Or rather.....immortality.

When a person is dead, is dead. Any other concepts are for the living to create and fantasize.

If you kill an ant, do you think other ants will care if they will be killed as well? They will continue crawling around and freak others out. If you are dead, whether your work is finished or not doesn't matter. If you have a child, whether he/she can fend for him/herself doesn't matter. You can try to provide as much as possible but it's finite. Look at the ancient kings throughout civilization, none can bring things with them, none can provide forever.

Existence is cheap. Experience is not. Carp diem and think of whether you wanna die a useful person or a selfish person. That's all.

so called "soul" or "me" comes from the our senses, memory and experiences with the world which comes from the physical body.

Death means the brain is goner, blood flow stops, cell activities decays, the body becomes still, breathless and hard like a rock. So, the answer is obvious. dead people equal not existing anymore. Only those who are alive continue to exist.

To be useful or good is usually not a human concern. To be happy and enjoy life is the more common goal people live their life. Just look at the charity industry and the entertainment luxury industry difference and you will know.

When you are dead, you're dead.
Your consciousness may still be conscious. May.
Nobody knows for sure.

Your body belongs to this planet. It will remain on this planet, (unless it is blasted into orbit out into space). The body will change its form into its various mineral,water and gas components and return to the earth. One way or another, sooner or later.

Therefore after death, what life is there?

Don't hope to meet your mother in heaven. Your mother's body is here on earth. Your body will also remain here.
Up there may be the consciousness. That consciousness may have formerly been your mother's. But it is not your mother because it did not give birth to you. Your mother's soul did not give birth to your soul. Therefore no more mother and child up there.

That's why the saying: "Before God, all are equal."

IMHO, when you have come to realise and accept that life is finite,you will be prepared for death. If you ask me, I would say living is a transitional period of what we will be in our next life with death being the final destination. As such, preparing with death comes with acceptance of it.
