798 SG something is damn wrong… i feel the family is too dependent already. maybe they only want to be spoon-fed?
BeautifulBetty SG If I can remember correctly Muslim cannot practise safe sex by the decree of their Quran. To them to be able to procreate is a gift of God. If they can continue to produce they will do so UNLESS either spouse is sick or incapable to do so naturally. And no artificially insemination too if they cannot produce naturally. But then level-headed Muslims will gauge their finances before birthing so many that they can’t feed and waiting for hand me downs or charity. Maybe our Muslim friends can come and shed some light on this issue.
Phoebie SG cook a pot of curry, preferbly veggie curry.. whole family can eat sometimes for days.. i always smelt curry at the place which i live last time
Phoebie SG evaporated milk, veggie curry powder, cabbage boil water, put in 1/3 packet of veggie curry powder, pour in 1/2 can of evaporated milk, let it boil and stir toss in shedded cabbage voila! serve with rice
Short Ninja SG What about Catholics,Jews and the other Christians? A lot of rules are bent by practitioners but some people just wont break the rules. This cleaner earns only $800 a month so whose fault is that? With a salary like this in SIngapore you can't even afford one child let alone 10.Probably his own parents were never properly educated and now his children.Since MUIS supports garment 100% they should help this family.
Fatum SG I don't think the catholics are better at this either .... I remember watching documentaries of the slums in the Philippines and south America where families living by the edge of the slums would have 7, 8, 9 kids ......
Lin Yu SG It's an action that no regrets can help. may they receive the appropriate assistance as soon as possible
Short Ninja SG Those Catholics in the Philippines can blame it on TV.Yes TV,Cuz if you notice those homes without TV have the biggest family> In the event of a fire the first thing a family member does is grab a TV to safety and I am not kidding on this one.Saw it in a dcoumentary on how important TV is to impoverished people
Fatum SG .... yeah ... another good example is India .... without enforced family planning like China, they are facing an enormous population bubble themselves ... but I have this little theory about the conservativeness of a society and it's "fecundity" ... look at Japan, porn available everywhere, sex galore .... and they are facing a birthrate that's below population replacement levels .... on the other hand, in Saudi Arabia, where women are covered up in head to toe, the average woman has 7 children ... and the population doubles every few decades .... maybe, if the goverment is looking at expanding the population, it should clamp down on geylang and chase all the kways out ...
joilin SG Perhaps they think the government will always help them because they are so called the natives of Singapore. These families may have more chances to procreate probably they lead a simpler life. Children are their main source of pride. In other words, if I do not have a job to boast of, I may focus more on my family, emphasising the fact that I am a family man or breadwinner rather than I work as a XXXXXX.
Short Ninja SG Birth rates in Japan is low but abortion rate is high just that nobody talks about it.Most husbands here do cheat on their wives and ironically that is the thing that is keeping the marriage intact as a lot of Japanese wives lose interest in sex after the first child. How many Singapore men still have sex with hookers during R&R in Taiwan? In japan the men dont have national service but have to do things like firemen duty.Once a year they would go on a trip called 'Shobo Ryoko' (Firemen Field Trip) which is actually a sex trip 'sanctioned' by their wives.I bet Saudi Arabia has incentives for people planning a big family and Singapore garmen should give more also.
token141 SG Personally...through experience ...more sex does not equate to having more children.... there are many ways to practise safe sex... So.... these people can enjoy having sex as much as they want but please...don't procreate when you could not afford it... I propose that the Government should start a sex education programme for these people instead of just looking into handouts.... Agree? Please put up your hands...
simnatic SG Huh? Where did you get this info from? Muslims are allowed to use contraceptives. Muslims are not Catholics just FYI. According to the Shi 'ah fiqh, family planning as a private measure to space or regulate the family size for health or economic reasons is permissible. sinicker SG Malay Muslims take getting pregnant as a gift from God. in today's context, we can see how difficult some couples try for a baby. some even try for years before resorting to artificial ways. this couple, i guess, has the luck from God. it may be the lack of education scientifically. dont know abt the female menstrual cycle, contraception and all. lack of education in the finances too. dont know just how expensive it is to afford a child. what will happen if they dont have the $$ one day. or it can just be plain ignorance of their affordability. hoping that family/people will help. who knows in the future when the kids are all grown up, at least the kids can take care of the two of them. now people got 2, 3 children also get sent to old folks' home.. conclusively, there's no use pushing the blame, finding out whose fault it is. seriously. no point. just enjoy our deepavali holiday okay.
simnatic SG Eh..please, as Malays in Singapore, let me tell you that may of their thinking are not like the Malaysians. Malays in Singapore do not even consider themselves "Natives" of this country. Obviously, forty years of democratic, equal & mertitocratic rule have eliminated such thoughts among the citizens, including Malays. It is very unfair for you to be judgemental in this manner.
