I know spoilers look nice on cars....at least some certain spoilers looks extremely cool, nice, "fierce" on some cars...

But then, what're spoilers really for? Just for the beauty??? Or is it some air flow related purposes?

p/s: Can't stand some saloon cars that put spoilers...not nice at all...there're some that put spoilers are nice....no offences to any saloon cars driver hor..., Laughing

Sometimes the the spoilers are do really literally mean "spoilers" Laughing on the streets its more for cosmetic purposes lah.... spend some $$$ on a huge big GT wing, stick it on the back of a family sedan and recieve stares from ppl and watch your fuel gauge reaching "E" faster than ever Mr. Green

But it does look nice on certain cars though

In singapore, spoliers are for cosmetic purposes only la.. the downforce created by the spoiler is only effective at really high speeds, like 200kph++.. but putting a spolier on a car makes it sportier and fiercer..

I just saw RED RX-8 driving into Transit Road and it has the nicest spoiler I have ever seen!! I was like *whissssstleeeeee* all the way man! Laughing

i beg to differ on the point that down force is only effective at high speeds. the design of the spoiler, the surface area as well as the angle of attack can determine how soon some form of effective down force comes into action. but because most ppl are too ignorant to realize this, they start putting on spoilers without knowing how it actually works for or against them.

not so. true, having more downforce creates greater drag, reduces top speed and acceleration which also leads to higher fc.

but going around corners, thats when the car with more downforce will go faster than one with less. because the car can carry a higher speed given the greater amount of force pressing it against the road which in turn gives it more traction. therefore, ur assumption is only correct in a straightline comparison.

that's my camp and i know of 1 red RX-8 but that one no spoiler one lei...

anyway, along Lorong Chuan leading to serangoon gardens from boundary road, on the left side there are some private houses, approaching the Shell station keep a look out for this white RX-8 parked outside one of the house, it got a nice spoiler/GT wing, quite low profile and brings out the sportiness of the RX but not very fierce also.
