I was thinking abt this while doing my office work

i thought,supposely engine of vehicle can fit into a car
lets imagine it can

heavy vehicle have engine which produce higher horse power to that of a car
however,bcuz of the weight of the vehicle,the horsepower are evenly distribute

for eg.
assumtion with the no.

X horpsepower to 1kg
vehicle weights 300kg
this means 300X horsepower to move the heavy vehicle

a car requries X-Y horsepower to move 1kg
lets take X-Y=T
car need T horsepower to move 1kg of its weight

and if the engine were to be used in car
i said assume it culd b fitted and settings/ecu were alrite

then wuldnt there be excess horsepower/torque?
wuldnt turbo kick in at a lower bar?

I juz need scientific explaination not flame

those engines are designed for a diff purpose la....truck engines are never designed for speed in the 1st palce....more for heavy loads (thats where diesel comes in) even it has say 450 BHP for eg its also there for heavy loads and not for pure performance like in cars...and of czo they are never light...I think if u ever try 2 fit one in a car the front would prob buckle at the weight.... large engines cannot put on small car. ur acceleration will suffer. the engine one stroke want to take how long sia. and ur chassis shld shake liao. and the weight will not balance out.

dun rely on bhp figures alone. a bus/truck engine has the same bhp as a ferrari but u cannot dx and expect it to run.

for e.g. a Scania 113 truck is 11 litres. each cylinder also chao chao give u 1.8-litres. tat is the disp for a 4-cylinder car liao. u wan to use 4 times the power to the equivalent of one unit of distance for wat sia~

but when u fit the engine of the heavy vechicle
there will be excesss torque so
i denote it as X-Y
Z is the hp of heavy vech
Y is hp of car

If using Truck engine to mount into a car, first problem.. weight. The car chassis may just break up. If I not wrong, a bus engine weights 8 times more than a normal sedan. Eg. car=180kg, Bus=1.1 tonn.

Desiel engine are meant for power, not speed. They got the power to drag weights, even if theres no weight for it to drag, you still will not find it running fast.

If using truck engine, can you imagine the wear and tear it has on the car?? How long the car will last sia??

Aiya, where got car weight only 180Kg. If got, the car surely can fly one.... so light only. I think only motor bikes got this can of weight.
Also, did anyone read last saturday life section (or is it the one before last week) on motorbike Trump. They throw in a 2300cc engine into the bike. Now, this bike can really fly.

I still agreed with drumstick that the huge truck engine is only meant for power to drag heavy load. Thats why my dyna dun need first gear to move off. Use second gear also can.
But if i got heavy load then i will get to use the first gear.
Also those truck engine has a 8 speed gear box, so try fitting that into your engine bay (which is damn big loh. I dun think you want me to mentioned about ships' engine. Just the piston alone is already 3/4 a ton, haven't add the connecting rod, bearings and awhole lot of other things).
